Meet Micky Nguyễn, Benefits Analyst at Nava. In her role, Micky supports clients with day-to-day servicing, renewals, open enrollment, communications — basically all things benefits. Give us the cliffs notes of your career, pre-Nava.
Before Nava, I was at a traditional brokerage for about five years. I started in employee well-being/corporate wellness and made the transition to the service team in early 2020 because I wanted to explore more of the employee benefits space!
What made you want to join Nava?
I wasn’t planning to stay in the brokerage space when making my next transition, but Nava’s mission and people were really what drove my decision.
I actually shed a tear after getting off a call with Nava Partner Chris Renzulli because of how passionate he was about changing the landscape of healthcare. It just made me realize that I CAN make a change in the healthcare industry while staying on the broker side.
I wanted to be a part of something new and innovative in the brokerage space — that’s what Nava is to me.
Biggest piece of professional advice?
Take risks and step outside of what you’re comfortable with. For me, that risk was joining a firm that was much smaller than my last! It’s much easier said than done, but taking that risk has really uplifted my career path and mental well-being. If you’re not happy with where you’re at in your career, make some changes! You might be pleased with the results.
How would you describe the Nava team in three words?

If you could have dinner with anyone, alive or dead, who would it be?
Dolly Parton - A living legend who’s dedicated to the greater good of her community! Also, can you imagine having dinner with this social butterfly? The conversations seem endless.
What keeps you going on the good days (and the not-so-good)?
Sometimes the simple things in life can really change the course of your day! For me, it’s putting on a good playlist, making plans to watch the sunset at the end of the day, and grabbing a scoop of Jeni’s Ice Cream.
What's your favorite part of working remotely?
Having the opportunity to travel while working! Also, all of my plants are thriving because I’m always taking care of them nowadays!
