Meet the Navanauts: Giovanna Caponi, Sr. Recruiter

‍Give us the cliffs notes of your career, pre-Nava.

I started my first job as a receptionist at my Dad’s P&C insurance brokerage when I was 13. I got my P&C license when I turned 18 and spent the summers in-between college selling trucking insurance.

By the time I graduated college, I was convinced that the last thing I wanted was a career in insurance. I decided to take a chance and accept a role as a Life Sciences recruitment agency where I spent the next few years recruiting Market Access & Commercial professionals for Pharmaceutical, Biotech, and HealthTech clients.

Fast forward to 2020 when I made the leap internal and joined a Pharmacy Benefits HealthTech startup where I led non-technical recruitment, hiring over 100+ new team members during my tenure.

Now I’m at Nava, where I get to contribute my insurance, tech, and healthcare experience towards a shared mission I care deeply about.

What made you want to join Nava?

The mission drew me in but the people convinced me that Nava was building something special.

Biggest piece of professional advice?

To women: do everything in your power to advocate for yourself and don’t wait for others to do it for you.

Which is your favorite Nava value?

Create Superfans - As a recruiter, my  mission is to transform every candidate into a Nava superfan!

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Just enjoy the journey a little bit more and don’t worry so much about the destination. It’s amazing how everything in life comes together exactly how it is meant to.

Favorite Nava moment?

Meeting the entire Nava team during my first week at Space Jam 5 in Miami…Best. First. Week. Ever.

What's your favorite part of working remotely?

The freedom to work from anywhere. I hate being chained to a desk so I absolutely love that I am able to grab my laptop and experience a change of scenery whenever I feel like.
